Challenges continue in the lawsuit of Nike vs. StockX which started last year over the reselling of counterfeit Nike sneakers. Nike’s lawyers submitted a letter to courts explaining that some time between March and July of 2022 a sneaker reseller bought 38 pairs of Air Jordan 1s, only to discover that they were fake. Nike contacted the reseller from which they had a meeting and Nike executives confirmed that they were indeed knock offs. StockX has since released a statement defending its verifying process. “We stand by our verification process as one of the first and best in the industry, and in 2022 alone rejected more than 330,000 products worth nearly $100M,” a spokesperson said. “StockX also has a buyer promise in place, which is central to our mission of offering a safe and secure marketplace for both buyers and sellers. If we make a mistake and incorrectly verify an item, we’re committed to making it right for our customers.”
