HOWARD “H” WHITE

The legacy of Howard “H” White starts in his hometown of Hampton, Virginia back in his high school days as a star basketball player. After becoming a standout point guard for the University of Maryland White decided to enter the NBA draft. Unfortunately untimely knee injuries put an abrupt stop to his basketball career. Reinventing himself “H” served as an assistant coach for Maryland University, playing an important role of recruiting basketball legend Moses Malone. A short time later in 1978 Howard became a field representative for NIKE, where he worked up close and personal developing relationships with some of the  world’s top athletes one including Michael Jordan.

White knew that a Michael Jordan and Nike partnership would change the game forever. After signing Mike to a Nike deal the rest is history.

Fast forward to today Howard “H” White is now the Vice President of Jordan Brand, working with the company for over the last forty years. With assistance from Nike he founded the “Believe to Achieve” program. A traveling seminar built to encourage and uplift youth to believe in themselves and the adults to mentor them.

THE AIR JORDAN 2 RETRO “H” WINGS

Launching under the auspices of Jordan Brand’s educational impact program, the Air Jordan 2 Retro ‘”H” Wings’ pays tribute to Howard ‘H’ White, Vice President of Jordan Brand and the founder of ‘Believe to Achieve,’ a traveling seminar dedicated to youth empowerment. Michael Jordan’s sophomore signature shoe sports a white leather upper with a feathery graphic on the midfoot overlay. Contrasting green accents land on the Nike-branded back tab and the retro Wings logo embossed on the tongue. In addition to an ‘H’ emblazoned on the sockliner, the same block letter can be seen underneath the semi-translucent heel counter.
