The return of the Kobe Brand has slowly been building up momentum. Back in March of 2022 the Kobe Bryant estate and Nike officially reunited its partnership after parting ways for a short period. Then we seen the rollout of the Kobe 6 Protro “Mambacita” in May 2022.
Fast forward to April 2023 we did a story on the Kobe 4 Protro “Mambacita”, another shoe dedicated to the life and legacy of Kobe’s daughter Gigi Bryant. Who knew that this was paving the way for what was yet to come.
With Kobe Day 2023 coming next month (08/24), Nike plans to kick things off in a massive way by relaunching the Kobe Brand. The announcement came via Nike CEO John Donahoe during Nike’s Q4 earnings call, which revealed that the sneaker giant surpassed its projections with earnings of $12.8 billion USD. in forth quarter reported revenue. Full year revenue was reported at $51.2 billion USD.
“It’s going to be an exhilarating summer as we pave the way for the relaunch of the Kobe brand ahead of Kobe Day on 8/24” Donahoe said.
Future sneaker drops will include the Nike Kobe 8 Protro, the Nike Kobe 10 Protro, and the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch”.
In addition to sneakers we will also see new accessories and apparel including jerseys, shorts, hoodies, backpacks and t-shirts.
