Michelle Wie West made her debut back in 2000 at the age of ten becoming the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links. In 2003 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, at just only 13 Wie became the youngest player ever to make a LPGA cut. Fast forward to this week at the U.S. Women’s Open the legendary golf professional will be playing the final pro tournament of her career. To celebrate her magnificent career and retirement Jordan Brand has released a limited edition Air Jordan 1.
The Air Jordan 1 Golf “Wave” pays homage to waves of life that extended throughout Michelle’s celebrated career. From child prodigy to professional golfer to now a mother. Sporting an all white premium leather, the most noted standout detail is the customized Swoosh logo which takes on the shape of an ocean wave. This feature is a nod to her life growing up in Hawaii. On the tongues her daughter’s initials and the Korean word for mother can be seen. On the laces “Just Do It” appears in Korean and English. Sporting a translucent Aqua blue undersole the word “ALOHA” can be seen underneath referencing the golfer’s Korean and Hawaiian heritage.
